Here's a good reason for kids to live healthy lifestyles, from the Clinton Public School District:

 

The Clinton school district's push to promote a healthy lifestyle for its students and employees is personal for district Superintendent Phil Burchfield.

"I am a diabetic," he said.

Healthy food, for cheap

A blog on the NYT backs up what I've been saying all along. It is possible to eat healthy without breaking the bank. For snacks, a bunch of bananas is cheaper than a big greasy bag of chips, or a bucket of ice cream. Water is cheaper than soda. And a meatless (or nearly meatless) diet is much, much cheaper than serving beef, pork or chicken with every meal.

All this food

This time of year, there is food everywhere ... but at my office we've gotten sweet treats every day this week. Our office Christmas potluck was Wednesday, so we all brought in food. But beyond that, we've gotten cookies, cheese straws, brownies, pecans and a host of other not-good-for-you gifts from businesses and individuals in our community.
