Fast and Easy Protein Smoothie
Submitted by FatherOfAsh on Tue, 08/12/2008 - 12:56.
This is a recipe I'm using to help me up my protein intake and cut fat that I found on http://peakconditionproject.blogspot.com/, a blog I found rather inspirational.
Ingredients:
1 cup apple, chopped
1 cup banana, chopped
1/2 cup fat free milk
3 hard boiled eggs, white only
Toss all ingredients in blender and mix it all up good.

Taste, smell, etc.
I was a little leery of this at first, but I was pleasantly surprised after drinking one. I honestly don't care for eggs in any form myself, and find the yolk is the main contributor to those feelings. In the case of this smoothie, I toss the part that offends me away right off the bat, and the rest of the egg really tastes like... nothing.
Overall, the flavor of the smoothie was that of the apple and banana, which would vary depending on the fruit you choose to utilize, and the only real complaint I had with my first one was that it was a little warm. I plan to try freezing the banana and apple in the future and starting with refrigerated boiled eggs. (My first attempt was shortly after I cooked my eggs.) I am also considering adding crushed ice to give it more of that cool, refreshing, smoothie feel. I might try that out this weekend.

Ooo ... the crushed ice is going to make it feel like a milkshake. That's going to be good!

It's a great write up about how eating protein can really give your diet a boost.

Protein is good!
I had read that post and forgot all about it! Protein seems to be a really big deal to people who are actively changing their bodies. For me, I know that I am consistently trying to increase my strength and flexibility, both of which mean being somewhat mean to my muscles and tendons, after which the main thing they seem to need is protein.
